Explore PCE Data
The Parent Report consists of data from the National Survey on Children’s Health (NSCH). Parents or caregivers respond to this survey every year. In Connecticut, an average of 500 parents respond to the NSCH questions about one of their children every year.
The NSCH contains 10 ACE indicators related to household and community challenges. There are no questions about child abuse in the NSCH.
How Common are ACEs in Connecticut?
Based on the NSCH, more than one-third of children experienced at least one type of adversity. Nearly 1 in 6 experience two or more types of adversities.
The most common type of ACEs reported by parents is divorce, with more than 1 in 5 children having parents or caregivers divorced or separated. In addition, 12% of children are reported to be growing up in households that experience food or housing insecurity.
