Are you trying to integrate equity into your data work but sometimes feel you’re facing an uphill struggle?
Do you have the feeling you should be doing more to integrate equity into your data work but aren’t sure what to even try?
Have you found ways that you are able to integrate equity into your data work and are looking for support from other data users?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, we hope you’ll join us.
We are a group of Connecticut data users (supported by CTData) who are putting increased intentionality into integrating equity and ethics into our data work.
We began meeting in June 2020, and are beginning 2021 with hope and excitement that we can make great progress in 2021. Our goals loosely include:
Forming stronger bonds as a group so we can take meaningful actions (both individually and collectively) in 2021.
Increasing the number of people in the leadership planning group so we can reflect the diversity of our members.
Influencing the Connecticut data culture so equity is central to data work at all levels across the state.
We meet monthly on the 3rd Tuesday from 11:30am to 1:00pm. We generally start with introductions, break into groups for discussion, and then finish our time by sharing lessons in the large group. We also will hear from people with expertise in topics we want to learn about in many of our 2021 sessions.
You can learn about what we’ve talked about during some of our sessions in the blog posts below. And if you’re ready to check it out, you can sign-up for an upcoming session here!
