Health Data Users Gather to Share Resources
This guest blog post was written by Kate Bittinger Eikel, consultant with CTData. CTData is grateful for the work that Kate did to research and prepare health data resources for the March Hartford Data Meetup.
On Tuesday, March 10th, data users from universities, non-profit organizations, municipalities, and private consulting businesses joined CTData for its first Hartford Data Meetup of 2020. These Data Meetups are opportunities for data users around the state to share data resources, support each other in their work, and network with peers. Meetups happen on a quarterly basis and focus on a particular topic. The March Meetup focused on health data.
CTData’s Director of Community Impact, Elizabeth Grim, kicked off the Meetup by showcasing CTData’s new website, including links to health data sources and health data projects such as the Nursing Data Portal, Health in Hartford’s Neighborhoods, and the Connecticut SEOW Prevention Data Portal. Kate Bittinger Eikel, consultant with CTData, demonstrated several federal health databases and datasets to compare Connecticut’s health outcomes to other states and the nation. The meeting ended with a partner spotlight. Ron Schack of The Charter Oak Group presented his analysis of data from the Connecticut Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey to build juvenile justice indicators.
Please save the date for our next Hartford Data Meetup on Tuesday, June 9 at 9:30am. The Meetup topic and registration link will be announced closer to the event date. You can find other CTData events and trainings on our Eventbrite page.
