U.S. Census Bureau Release Vintage 2022 Population Estimates by Towns and Cities
The United States Census Bureau’s Population Estimate Program released its Vintage 2022 population estimates for Connecticut towns (minor civil divisions). The Data is from April 1, 2020, to July 1, 2022.
The Vintage 2022 population estimate shows an average of 0.22% population growth. Bridgeport remains in the top spot, with the highest population at 148,377 people (an increase of 0.14%). However, of Connecticut’s cities, New Haven saw the greatest increase, at 3.7%, from 2020 to 2022, with an increase of 4,956 people.
Of all the towns in Connecticut, Mansfield saw the largest increase from 2020 to 2022, with a 23.5% percent increase. The top four towns with the largest increase also have a significant college population from 2020. Currently, we are exploring the reasons for some of these large changes and whether they are actual changes or errors in reporting.
