American Community Survey 2021 Data Hub

The American Community Survey (ACS) is a survey administered by the Census Bureau covering topics such as social, economic, housing, and demographic characteristics. The ACS informs over $675 billion of federal and state government spending each year.

Both 2021 1-year and 5-year ACS estimates were released at the end of last year. Throughout this data hub, you can find analyses and tools we have developed to explore 2021 ACS data (compared to previous years of data where applicable).

Sign up to receive our newsletter and be the first to hear when new analysis, tools, and datasets are released. (Note: If you are already signed up for our newsletter, this will simply ensure you also receive our special census email updates.)

Data Tool

We have created an online interface for you to explore 2021 ACS 5-year estimates by town, with topics such as income, education, housing, remote-working, and more! For each topic, we explore trends over time by comparing data from 2011, 2016, and 2021.

New! Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Earnings, Employment, and Education in Connecticut

Even as people across the state at all levels engage in efforts to ensure all of Connecticut’s residents have a chance to thrive, marked disparities still exist in educational attainment, employment, and earnings across racial and ethnic groups in Connecticut. We wondered what the ACS 2016-2020 5-year estimates could show us about inequities that persist in the state. Read our latest research on racial disparities across the state and within Connecticut’s five largest cities.
